TE WAHANGA PUTAIAO PRIZES


The Te Wahanga Putaiao Prizes are offered annually by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, College of Sciences to Maori students in the final year of study prior to graduation in the following ten degree programmes offered by the College of Sciences:

·         Bachelor of Applied Science - all majors

·         Bachelor of Construction - Quantity Surveying

·         Bachelor of Engineering - all majors

·         Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Wellington) - all majors

·         Bachelor of Information Sciences - all majors and joint majors

·         Bachelor of Health Science - majors in Environmental Health and Environmental Risk Management

·         Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

·         Bachelor of Science- all majors including conjoint programmes

·         Bachelor of Technology - all majors

·         Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences


The Te Wahanga Putaiao Prizes will be awarded to a Maori student in each programme and success will be based on academic outcomes, involvement with Maori community (including the Maori student community) and/or development. The selection panel will comprise the Kai Arahi Maori, representatives of the Pro Vice-Chancellors office with input from coordinators of individual degree programmes, and Maori staff from the College as required.

These prizes are awarded in recognition of student achievement and it is hoped they will assist the continued development of each winner in their chosen discipline. The prizes are valued at $100 each in the form of book vouchers and will be determined annually in December and presented along with a Certificate of Achievement.

 

Te Wāhanga Putaiao Prizes:

The College of Sciences Kaiārahi Maori office awards the Te Wāhanga Putaiao Prizes annually to the top Māori Student in each degree administered by the college who is eligible to graduate.
